Climate Change, Meet Your Apocalyptic Twin: Oceans Poisoned by Plastic

Mismanaged plastic waste consists of plastic material that is either littered or inadequately disposed of by populations living within 50km of a coast. This waste is not fully contained, so could eventually enter the ocean via inland waterways, wastewater outflows and transport by wind or tides. All the while, it's disintegrating into toxic crumbs. The ocean and its creatures are now awash in chemicals oozed by plastic -- and it's seeping into human bodies from Bali to Boston.
